Is it ok to record credit card details in recordings?
Solution Recording your phone calls using www.recordyourcall.co.uk

If your giving credit card details over the phone, please DO NOT record that part of the conversation.

Either:

  1. Hang-up and call them back to give card details, or
  2. Press **5 to stop recording while you give those details then press **6 to start recording again.

Making a recording of credit card numbers is against the PCI/DSS regulations that are in place to protect consumers from harm. We would ask that you do not record these details in case they fall into the wrong hands, the same goes for bank details.

If you accidently record details like this, delete all copies of recordings, and delete the recording from the website immediately.

If you are not sure that all copies have been deleted, call your credit card company and tell them what has happened, and arrange to put block on the card.

You should also inform us of this potential breach if it happens.

Users that record credit card details or bank information during calls, knowingly will be barred from future use on their account closed immediately.

If your recording a call to publish in the general public domain or internet, ensure there are NO sensitive details contained during the call, like, passport numbers, driving licence numbers, postal addresses, IP address, bank details, social security numbers, etc etc. If in doubt, don’t publish the call.

Before making any recording public we advice you seek legal advice to avoid potential identity theft issues and or legal/libel issues that could arise.

The UK Home Office have some good advice on identity theft located at http://www.identity-theft.org.uk/

Please note that record you call, cannot listen to your recordings, and you accept the responsibility to use the service not to record sensitive personal information.
